They spent several months learning nine musical selections for the event - three of which were in a foreign language! Students at Driswood Elementary celebrated Black History Month with a schoolwide assembly featuring the Charles Town Middle School choir, under the direction of music teacher Lindsay Dove, accompanied by award-winning gospel composer, singer, and songwriter Maharold Peoples, Jr. The special guests performed two songs of cultural and historical significance, including "Lift Every Voice and Sing." Thanks to Mr. Peoples and CTMS students for this musical treat!

There is NO DANGER to students or staff, and all individuals involved have been contacted. This message follows our practice of informing you whenever emergency vehicles are on our campus. EARLY DISMISSAL: Driswood Elementary School will dismiss students at 1:00 PM TODAY, Dec. 14, due to a water main break. Our partners at JUI will delay their repairs so students can eat lunch ahead of dismissal. This only impacts Driswood Elementary School students. We're pleased to bring holiday cheer to neurodiverse students and their families again this year with the second annual ο»ΏJCS Sensory Santa! This event gives sensory-sensitive children and their families a chance to visit Santa in a calmer, less-chaotic environment. The fun continues the weekend thanks to our student and staff volunteers!
National Special Education Day commemorates the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) into law in 1975, granting children with special needs access to free and quality public education. Today we recognize and celebrate our incredible special education community at JCS with a heartfelt THANK YOU to the teachers and aides who serve some of our most exceptional learners. ππππ

WVU MedCHEFS visited 5th Grade on Friday. Students from WVU School of Medicine collaborated with our 5th graders to make some delicious treats utilizing different crops from our school garden!
