Math Field Day Winners Graphic

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Jefferson County Schools began its annual Math Field Day competition in January at the elementary and middle school levels. Students from 4th through 12th grades competed individually and as teams in events held in January and February.

Driswood Elementary School teacher April Burkhammer co-coordinated the elementary and middle school events with Crystal Muia, a mathematics teacher at Shepherdstown Middle School. Burkhammer offered her congratulations to all participants at an awards ceremony on January 30.

"Jefferson County is truly proud to have such fine students representing our county," she said.

Ms. Burkhammer also thanked the teachers, volunteers, and families who contributed to the competition.

"Without their support and help, Math Field Day would not be possible."

The top three individual winners from 4th through 12th grade will now advance to the regional competition on March 11 at WVU Potomac State College.
